Is Lookr Safe? Our Honest Verification Results
Short answer: the build hosted on this site passed every check we ran. Longer answer below, with the actual results, because a safety claim without evidence is just marketing. Here is what our verification found for Lookr v1.5.7.1110.01.
Key takeaways: Malware scan: clean. Package and signature: verified (com.wecloud.lookr). Permissions: 21, all justified, nothing sensitive. Installed and ran on all five test phones. Published SHA-1: 85f9210d9b58729a5925da7c85808db8940be5f1.
What we checked
1. Package identity. We extracted the XAPK and confirmed the package name is com.wecloud.lookr and the version is 1.5.7.1110.01, matching the developer's release. The XAPK contains the base APK plus the arm64_v8a, mdpi, and en splits, exactly as a clean bundle should.
2. Malware scan. The file was scanned before it ever touched a phone. Result: clean, no flags.
3. Permission audit. All 21 permissions from the manifest were read by hand. Network, storage, background services, ads, and push. No contacts, no SMS, no location, no camera, no microphone. The full list with explanations is in our permissions guide.
4. Five phone install test. The build installed and ran on Galaxy A55 (Android 15), Pixel 8 (Android 16), Redmi Note 13 Pro (Android 14), Infinix Note 40 Pro (Android 14), and Galaxy A13 (Android 12). Search, trending, the URL downloader, and playback all worked.
The honest caveats
Two things you should know. First, Lookr is ad supported, and the ad permissions are real. You will see ads, and ad networks get the standard advertising ID. Second, this safety verdict covers the verified build on the official download page. A Lookr file from a random mirror with a different hash or extra permissions is a different file and gets no such verdict.
Red flags that mean do not install: a SHA-1 that does not match 85f9210d9b58729a5925da7c85808db8940be5f1, permission requests for contacts or SMS, or a download page that asks for payment. The real file is free.
