Lookr Downloads Failing? Causes and Fixes

A download that will not start and a download that stalls halfway are two different problems with different fixes. This guide separates them so you stop trying the wrong solution. Work through the matching section in order.

Key takeaways: Won't start: check storage permission, free space, and the source link. Stalls halfway: exempt Lookr from battery optimization and keep the phone awake.

If the download will not start

Check storage permission. Lookr cannot save files without it. Settings, Apps, Lookr, Permissions, and confirm storage or files access is allowed. This is the number one cause.

Check free space. You need the file size plus headroom. If your storage is nearly full, downloads silently refuse to start.

Try a fresh link. Pasted URLs expire. Run a new search for the same video and download from the fresh result, or re-paste a current URL.

If the download stalls halfway

Exempt Lookr from battery optimization. Android kills background download services on aggressive battery savers. Settings, Battery, find Lookr, and set it to unrestricted. This fixes most stalling.

Keep the screen on for big files. The WAKE_LOCK permission helps, but some phones still throttle. A large file with the screen off on a strict battery profile is the classic stall scenario.

Switch networks. A flaky connection stalls more than it fails. Move to stable Wi-Fi for large files.

If the finished file will not play

The download likely truncated. Delete it, confirm free space, and re-download on a stable connection. If the same file repeatedly truncates, the source itself may be the problem, try a different result. Our general troubleshooting guide covers app level issues beyond downloads.

Questions about this guide

Do downloads resume after interruption?

It depends on the source server. Many resume, some restart. Stable connections avoid the question entirely.

Why do downloads work on Wi-Fi but not mobile data?

Some carriers throttle large downloads, or the app is set to prefer Wi-Fi. Check both the app settings and your data saver.

Where did my downloaded file go?

Check the Library tab first, then your file manager's download folders. Files save to shared storage.
